College attendance policy

The Coppin State College attendance policy states that you are allowed a maximum number of unexcused absences equal to twice the number of credits for the course. Thus, for a three-meetings-per-week 3-credit course, the maximum is six unexcused absences; for a twice-per-week course, the maximum is four.

Scheduling of off-campus appointments

You should schedule doctor’s and dentist’s appointments during times other than class. This is especially true of tests and exams—except for emergencies, I will not give make-up tests/exams in situations where the test/exam was missed because of such an appointment.

Prior notification—classes

If you must miss a class because of an appointment or athletic event, you should notify me personally in advance of the class.

Prior arrangements—tests and exams

If you know that you will not be able to take a test or exam at the scheduled time because of an athletic event, should make arrangements with me personally (well in advance) to take the test or exam before it is given to the rest of the class.

Emergencies

If you have to miss a class because of an emergency, contact me within 24 hours by phone and/or email to make arrangements for missed work.

If, due to unforeseen circumstances, you miss a test or exam, you must contact me within 24 hours by phone and/or email to make arrangements for making up the test or exam. You must also present convincing evidence of a valid reason for your absence.

MONITOR YOUR EMAIL.
"NOT CHECKING EMAIL" IS NOT AN ACCEPTABLE "EXCUSE."
